Easy To Install
Tyroc can be installed in any building or on any concrete pad where the external temperature is between 5°C and 40°C. There is no need to acclimatize the Tyroc subflooring products. Tyroc can be installed immediately after purchase. No levelling shims are required to install the Tyroc subflooring. The moulded rubber base is very flexible and easily shapes itself to minor variations and cracks in the floor.
Any Finished Flooring Can be Installed Over Tyroc
Carpet, Tile, Linoleum, VCT, Laminate, Bamboo, Engineered and Natural Hardwood Flooring can be installed on top of the Tyroc panels. We recommend that you follow manufacturer’s instructions for installation of these flooring materials.
Tyroc Panel Usage per Room
Divide the Total Square Feet of the room (___________) by 5.3 in order to determine the total number of panels required. This calculation will allow 2% for waste and overcuts.
T0ols you will need to install Tyroc panels:
- Circular Saw or Jigsaw or Hand Saw (Regular Teeth) or Skill Saw or Table Saw
- Caulking Gun
- PL 400 or equivalent Adhesive Cartridges
- Chalk-line
- Measuring Tape
Caution: Tyroc panels are easy to cut but cutting will generate dust. Cut in a well-ventilated area. It is recommended that the circular saw use a vacuum attachment. You can space Tyroc ¼” from outside walls however it is not necessary as Tyroc will not expand or contract due to change in tempature.
Step 1
The concrete floor, slab or wood substrate should be relatively dry and free of continued leaks, excessive moisture penetration or flooding problems prior to installing Tyroc subflooring panels.
The Tyroc rubber base will adjust to any uneven surface variation of less than ¼”.
Step 2
Measure 17” out from the wall where you would like to start and snap a chalk line on the floor. This will be the edge that you will use to align the black edge of the under side of the Tyroc panels.
Step 3
Tyroc panels will not expand or contract but you may wish to place a ¼” spacer between the non-rubber side of the Tyroc panel and the wall. This will result in the panel being spaced ¼” from the wall. Align the black rubber edge of the Tyroc panel’s “long side” on the chalk line. This will space the panel ¼” off the edge of the wall.
Step 4
Place a 3/16” diameter bead of PL 400 or equivalent adhesive across the end of the rubber base of the first panel. Place the non-rubber end second panel of Tyroc over the adhesive on the end of the first panel and press down with your hand or foot. Make sure the long rubber edge of the second panel is facing away from the wall.
Step 5
Repeat Step 5 until all the Tyroc panels are installed in the First Row. Cut the last panel in the First Row approximately 1/4” short of the side wall.
Step 6
To achieve the recommended brick pattern, cut the first Tyroc panel for the Second Row to a length of approximately 24”. Apply a 3/16” diameter bead of adhesive on the long rubber edge of the first panel from the First Row in Step 5.
Place the newly cut 24” panel over the adhesive on the first panel from the First Row and press down lightly. Apply a 3/16” diameter bead of adhesive to the full length of the exposed black rubber edge on the next full length for a combined length of 48” for both panels. Remember to apply adhesive against the rubber end of the 24” section.
Place top (non-rubber) edge of the full length (48”) panel against both the end of the 24” panel and the rubber edge of the panel from the first row and press down to seal the surfaces together. Repeat the process for the length of the floor.
Remember to leave a ¼” gap at the end of the row. It will be necessary to cut the last panel to length to achieve a ¼” gap to the wall.
Apply Step 4 in the next row and Step 7 in the following row. Use the same brick pattern until the room is complete.
