I have a basement about 1400 sqft the I want to finish with a product that is both green and will help with my moisture problems. However, after this recent rain I have come to the realization that I need to do some foundation work before I even attempt to put something on the floor. I have 3 locations in the basement that is weeping in around the floor and wall so I am sure I either do not have the proper drainage system underneath or it is plugged up, so it may be a month or so before I am ready to finish the basement floor, We had to completely gut a fully finished basement this past month.

Thanks for your email. We are very, very interested in your product. I am presently waiting on a sample in the mail to confirm this is the product we are looking for. My husband and I seem to have found ourselves sought after for repairing unusual situations in homes and buildings. We were looking at combining a Hardy board type material and a waterproof membrane for a particular project we are doing. My husband is presently in China but will be returning tonight. It was my job while he was gone to find something to fit our needs. I came across your product and it seems to have all the attributes. Roughly we initially need 100 sq ft. If our “experiment” works we will be needing more. As soon as the sample is received, has been reviewed by my engineer husband, I literally will be doing what it takes to get this material here to Kansas City as soon as possible.

Beth Emrick, End Consumer – Laminate over Tyroc
Hi Doug,
I just wanted to let you know that we used Tyroc as an underlayment when we renovated our living room and hallway and are thoroughly impressed.
We tore up our old carpet and laid down Tyroc over the old OSB subfloor. Then we laid down laminate wood flooring over Tyroc. It was a breeze. We didn’t have to do anything to the old OSB floor in terms of leveling or sanding the joints and completed the 370 sq. ft. project in less than a day and half start to finish!
Even more so I was so blessed…as I suffer from allergies and after installing the new floor my allergy’s literally went away. Plus I noticed that I used to change out my filter in the air system once a month and saw nothing but black dirt and dust. Now my filter looks brand new even after 3 months! The floor is warmer and even more comfortable than when I had carpet on it. I wouldn’t have believed it until I experienced it. You have a great product and I have told many of my friends about it.

David commented after using Tyroc underlayment and tile over tyroc: “I was very, very impressed with Tyroc. I couldn’t believe the adhesion characteristics between the Tyroc surface board and the thin set. And even more, the amount of force it took to break up one of the tiles we needed to replace after we had laid it down. I took a hammer to it and it just wouldn’t break and then after it did finally break it took even more to remove the thin set. I have never seen anything like it. Tyroc is a great product. I most definitely will be using it more in my projects.”
David Rhodes, owner of B’s Renaissance Remodelers LLC, recently used Tyroc underlayment product on a challenging remodel. The job site was a combination of clay over granite. Although sump pumps generally handle the water under the house traditionally installed tile flooring might have failed and certainly would have been cold underfoot due to the moisture in the crawl space. Tyroc provided a dry, warm underlayment for the tile flooring. In addition, the owners added needed closet space by expanding a walk in closet into the garages third bay. Tyroc underlayment product allowed the tile flooring to float over the garage’s concrete slab and the adjacent wood floor.

Doug thank you for the help in purchasing the Tyroc product. It is as advertised. Easy to lay down. Good insulating properties. Easy to walk on, and silient. We had an early test here in Pittsburgh before we finished the basement. A major snow followed by major rain. It broke through outer wall and french drain and the Tyroc kept the water from flooding the basement. Thanks again.
