Tyroc Subflooring Is A Sound Proofing Barrier

Tyroc Subflooring is a new innovative subflooring product that is a sound barrier as well as an underlayment for any finished floor covering. Preventing impact sound transmission in the flooring and ceiling assembly is a major issue in multi-level residential building. Tyroc Subflooring exceeds the building codes for sound control with all finished flooring covering over both concrete and wood substrates.

Tyroc Subflooring is an easy to install subflooring that also performs as an underlayment for tile and any other finished flooring installation requiring an adhesive application. Tyroc also provides an underlayment for any floating finished flooring installations such as laminate or vinyl planking. And Tyroc can be installed over both concrete and wood substrates.

Sound is the second biggest issue in flooring assemblies. The IBC (International Building Code) requires a 50 IIC rating in the flooring assembly. Many municipalities and builders are requiring an even higher IIC rating 55 or more particularly in multi-level housing. This rating is not hard to accomplish with carpet and pad. However, with resilient and hard surface finished flooring these ratings prove difficult to achieve without additional layers of materials in the flooring assembly.

Adding additional layers of material to accomplish sound ratings adds cost to the total flooring installation as well as total project time. Installing and using thick pour light weight concrete or gypsum also induces more moisture into the building often creating its own issues with finished flooring installations. Tyroc provides a dry installation as well as a flat, smooth surface to install any finished flooring product. And it also provides a decoupling barrier so any future movement in the substrate will not affect the finished flooring installed over Tyroc Subflooring.

Tyroc Subflooring is the next generation in subflooring and brings solutions to long standing problems in the total flooring assembly.

Tyroc Subflooring Prevents Moisture Causing Finished Flooring Failure

Moisture coming from the substrate either concrete or wood is the number one cause of finished floor covering failure. Whether it is a new build or renovation moisture can be found in both types of flooring substrates both below and above grade. Stopping the moisture from reaching your finished floor covering and any adhesives used in the assembly is the only way to prevent failure in the finished floor covering.

There are many types of moisture barriers on the market from membranes to topical solutions. However these types of moisture barriers can introduce their own set of problems for the finished flooring assembly. Tyroc Subflooring is a new innovative subflooring product that is both a moisture barrier and an underlayment for any finished floor covering: tile, engineered and natural hardwood, laminate, vinyl planking, carpet and carpet tiles, Luxury Vinyl Tiles and sheet vinyl or linoleum* (sheet vinyl or linoleum requires additional underlayment of ¼” luan or plywood or special treatment of the seams after installation of the Tyroc Subflooring panels).

Tyroc Subflooring is a floating system that is easy to install over concrete or wood substrates. Tyroc is a dual panel system with a ship lap interlocking design that provides a moisture barrier and an underlayment surface for any finished floor covering. The top surface board is made from Magnesium Oxide (MgO) which is a stable material. It is impervious to moisture and will not contract or expand due to moisture or temperature changes. The bottom surface is made from 100% recycled plastic and rubber tires.
