Adding additional layers of material to accomplish sound ratings adds cost to the total flooring installation as well as total project time.  Installing and using thick pour light weight concrete or gypsum also induces more moisture into the building often creating its own issues with finished flooring installations.  Tyroc provides a dry installation as well as a flat, smooth surface to install any finished flooring product.  And it also provides a decoupling barrier so any future movement in the substrate will not affect the finished flooring installed over Tyroc Subflooring.
